Our Mission
An overview of PFABBS
The mission of PFABBS is threefold. First we want to stop
the current Rochester Renaissance Square project, as it is
being presented to the public, until our concerns are adequately
addressed.

Northwest Corner,
Main St. and Clinton Ave. These are the pre-Civil
War buildings slated for demolition. |
Second, we intend to dramatically increase the Public participation
in the planning process:
The Public Comment period that began November 25 with the
meeting at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center and
ended 20 days later on December 15 (with the RGRTA Rochester
Central Bus Station plan available at only 4 locations) was
inadequate. There has been no public forum on the revised
plan, now called the Rochester Renaissance Square project.
We aim to facilitate meaningful public input. To this end
we will educate the public on the the less publicized aspects
of the project. There has also been a lot that has gone unanswered;
we will make the public aware of these important questions.
We also want this, and past, public input to be utilized
by our government and public institutions.
Third, we want to fully explore:
- alternatives to the Main Street location; and
- the environmental, architectural, financial, public policy
and health considerations of a huge underground site in
the heart of downtown Rochester that will impact us all
for decades to come.
Some options that we want to explore:
- Combining the bus station with the train station (creating
an inter-modal transportation center); or
- Designing a series of (5 or 7?) satellite bus stations
that will decentralize bus transportation and avoid creating
congestion downtown; or
- Identifying a better location for a central station if
that turns out to be the best design.
